42 Weekly Theme:"Art Nouveau" (June 8, 2005) Its still pretty hard for me to use my pliers due to my recent CT surgery, but I find I can do coiling and weaving without too much pain! For this week, its finally time for me to attempt to make an organic kind of pendant which I have seen Eni, another YOJ team member, create. Eni was sweet enough to give me a few hints to get started, so I just jumped right in with my new 28 gauge sterling silver. This technique will require more practice! This pendant's focal piece is a tableau of twin stars, one in turquoise and one in Eastern silver. They are coiled all around with a nugget of African turquoise, various rounds of coral and green turquoise and a dark green turquoise rondelle. Accents of Rhajasthani silver beads, silver rounds and Hill Tribe spacers highlight the coiled beads. I have woven the bail with a basketweave technique. The Year of Jewelry has certainly encouraged me to try new techniques. I like the way this pendant came out, and have certainly learned from the mistakes I made while making it, so the next one I make will be another big step forward! Twin Star Turquoise
