2004-05 Year of Jewelry

Weekly Theme:"Outside the Box" (June 22, 2005)

Whimsy is still here, and she and I have been feverishly creating lots of jewelry.

This week, I asked her to design a piece of jewelry to carry out the theme, Outside the Box. She agreed to do it, but in her own way. Thus, all of the beads are Outside the Box but they are also Inside the Box! as the piece resembles a picture frame through which you can peer to see your whims and wishes.

Fancy jasper, flashing labradorite and Botswana agate frolic inside their hammered frame cage, all coiled with Bali and Karen Hill Tribe silver beads. One corner is basketweaved and another has a graceful planished spiral. The bail is nearly hidden amidst a silver flower link bead. The pendant is totally asymmetrical and makes use of "air space" to balance its 1 1/2" by 2" size with a light look.
